Description

Barcelona embodies a spirit of happiness and freedom. This seaside city teems with pristine beaches where sun-kissed tourists relax and play in the sand. Live music echoes throughout the city. Everywhere you turn, the streets are dotted with colourful tapas bars, Catalan restaurants and sculptures that add to the energy of the city.

Las Ramblas Barcelona is a great starting point to explore the Catalan city. Next to the eponymous Las Ramblas boulevard, a promenade dotted with shops, restaurants and museums, the walk is an entertaining and pleasant one as you make your way to cultural attractions such as the human statue of Galileo Galilei and Miró mosaic.

Your next stop should be the Barri Gòtic, or Gothic Quarter. Almost untouched by time, the area evokes the old-world romance of Barcelona. Many of the buildings that still stand originated during Medieval times, and some date back to the Roman period.

Next head for the Quadrat d’Or to relish the sight of majestic buildings decorated with floral designs, neo-Gothic details and stained glass. A must-see attraction here is the Sagrada Família, the unfinished masterpiece of Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. This Roman Catholic church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you are adventurous, hike up the hill of Montjuïc and be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the city. The hill also leads to other destinations such as botanical gardens, Olympic and Sports Museum Joan Antoni Samaranch, and Montjuïc Cemetry – the final resting place for many influential personalities.

Return to Las Ramblas Barcelona after a full day of exploration. The air-conditioned/heated room, TV and internet connection promise to help settle you in as fast as possible.
